Data Recovery
In the event of an emergency, this is the most valuable service I can provide. Lost files can represent dozens or even hundreds of hours of lost time on your part re-creating your information. Some types of information can't be re-created at all, like photographs.
Of course it's always better of you have a current backup of your information (like, duh). But if you're in a position where you've lost files and have no backup, please get in touch with me. I've taught myself a variety of techniques to get lost files back and have an impressive track record. I am prepared to recover information from Windows & Mac drives alike.
Technical Support
When something in your computer stops behaving properly, you may be tempted to call its manufacturer looking for help.
Prepare yourself for the following challenges:
1.) Most tech support operators read from flow charts and are not computer experts with decades of troubleshooting experience.
2.) Manufacturers tend to defend their own products and blame other manufacturers for your problems.
3.) The majority of tech support is located overseas and operators speak mediocre English.
4.) Finally, tech support operators are not committed to teaching you new skills.
I provide on-site individualized tech support to my clients and draw from two decades of computer troubleshooting experience. I have no allegiance to any particular product - I'm willing to chase the problem no matter where it resides. When I figure out how to fix your problem, I'll describe to you in very clear terms how I did it. I'll even type you a cheat sheet!
Tech Lessons
Do you wish you understood technology better? Are the kind of person who learns best one-on-one with an instructor?
When you work with me, you can delight in knowing there are no dumb questions. There is nothing too simple. As your computer skills grow you'll be relieved to know my skills are such there are no questions too complex, either. In other words, my knowledge is broad and deep. And whatever you want to know, I'll explain it in a refreshingly simple way.
Some clients take notes while I teach. I'll type them for you (I'm a quick typist). There are a few who even tape-record me as I work. Whatever you prefer. Keep in mind that I can convey a tremendous amount of information in only an hour or two. The better you can document what I say, the more "bang for your buck" you'll get.
I have teaching experience in a broad range of subjects: ceramics, guitar, conflict resolution, public speaking and of course, computers! My "students" frequently tell me they've never learned so much in such a short period of time!
